Let's compare Olympus PEN E-PL2 with Nikon D3. The first model related to Entry-Level Mirrorless, the second to Pro DSLR cameras. Olympus E-PL2 was released in 2011, and Nikon D3 in 2008. PEN E-PL2 is newer, which is a plus. D3 3 years older. However 3 years, the difference is not so bad.
These two cameras have the same sensor resolution - 12 MP. The more megapixels the camera has, the more detailed and clear the picture will be. The number of megapixels will also affect the maximum size of the photos, which then can be printed without loss of quality.
